Frankly, this coffee just adds another paragraph to our love letter to Peruvian coffees. The dynamic range of flavor, varieties, and quality in Peru is hard to find elsewhere. This particular lot (yes, it’s another community lot) comes to us from the Cusco region. You might find that name familiar if you’re as big of a fan of The Emperor’s New Groove as we are. It’s a blend of Typica, Bourbon, Caturra, and Limani, which is a hybrid varietal originally produced in Costa Rica in the 1990s.
Incahuasi is a cooperative processing mill located way up in the Andes Mountains run by a gentleman named Claudio Ortiz. Claudio has organized his efforts to reinvest their profits back into the infrastructure of his community. Saying that traversing the remote regions of Peru is treacherous and difficult would be an understatement, so any initiative to bolster the communities producing efficiency is welcome and celebrated. Our importing partners on this coffee have noted that when they talk with the producers who contribute their harvests to the Incahuasi co-op having nothing but respect and positivity for Claudio and his efforts.
This is a naturally processed and sun-dried coffee, which means you can expect a distinct fruity, winey-ness all throughout the cup. But it doesn’t stop there, this coffee boasts a wonderful tropical character that is supported by an overwhelming floral honey-like sweetness. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
